PHOTOGRAPHY PREPARATION TIPS

What Should We Do to Prepare the Home for the Photoshoot?

At a minimum, the house should look clean and organized.

Decluttering worktops go a long way in making a home look open and inviting.

Smaller things, such as removing visible rubbish bins, can also make the house look cleaner.

Perhaps most important, check to ensure every light fitting in the home turns on with a working light bulb.

We will leave the room as we photographed it, this can be a guide to you as to how to setup the property for potential future viewings. We have photographed over 3,000 properties around the south west and we have a good idea of what works!

How Long Will It Take?

Generally allow an hour for photography possibly longer for larger sized homes.

Be prepared to Reschedule

We are reliant on the weather, the key images are the externals and the weather has a big impact on the final result. We will work with you to reschedule if the weather is against us.

Be prepared to leave for an hour

Ideally an unoccupied house works best, it helps us work without distraction and without the risk of getting you in any of the images.

EXTERNALS:

Park cars away from the house or in the garage.

Freshen up landscaping.

Remove rubbish bins

Sweep away leaves from any driveway/Patio areas

Remove debris, hose, and toys from any swimming pool area.

Store away outdoor recycling bins - it is best to place them in a garage or in an outside shed, if this is not possible we will find a location for them during the shoot.

Hosepipes - remove or tidy.

Remove toys & Bikes

BBQ - Remover Cover and wipe it over.

Clean windows and glass doors.

Place cushions & parasols on outdoor furniture.

Tidy up the lawn, rake up leaves, pull weeds, and remove any dead vegetation.

INTERNALS:

Lights off, please. Natural outside light is the best. If rooms struggle with natural light we will adjust the lighting accordingly.

Window Shades Shutters and Blinds:

Horizontal blinds and shutters - it is best to keep horizontal blinds down. However, open the blades in a flat position to see the exterior. The exception is when you do not want to see outside the window (side of a house when a neighbor's house is visible.) In those cases, turn the shutter blades up a little.

Vertical blinds - usually look best fully open. The most important thing is that any wall with multiple window coverings is adjusted all the same.

Clear all worktops and remove clutter.

Clutter is classed as - Washing up bowl, drainer, washing up liquid, paper towels/Kitchen roll, soiled tea towels, pen pots, piles of paper etc.

Depersonalize - remove photos, names, expensive artwork that you dont want advertised online. If removal is not possible point these items out and we will hide them in the final edit.
